Ottawa, Ontario --- The second annual Jump Canada Modified Nations' Cup took place from August 4 to 8, 2004, during the Summer Festival at Palgrave, Ontario, at the Caledon Equestrian Park.

Taking part in this fun and friendly 'international' competition were 16 teams of up to 15 riders per team. All team members received a T-shirt, number sticker, and took part in the Friday noon BBQ kindly sponsored by Lein's Catering.

“For the second year in a row, this Nations’ Cup competition has proved to be a huge success,” said Muffie Guthrie, Fundraising Chair for Jump Canada. “The format is friendly, and everybody who joins in enjoys checking the daily score board updates and encouraging their team members. This event is a great fundraiser for Jump Canada, and I foresee that it will keep getting bigger every year.”

Riders of all ages and all divisions joined and their scores contributed to their daily team total. The team Captains were made up of Grand Prix riders, and their scores in the $40,000 Summer Festival Grand Prix on Sunday, August 8, determined the final medal winning teams.

Final Modified Nations' Cup Results:

Gold: Roberto Teran - Captain representing Colombia.
Team sponsored by KingRidge - Breeder of World Class Sport Horses.

Silver: Erynn Ballard - Captain representing Great Britain.
Team sponsored by Looking Back Farm.

Bronze: Eric Lamaze - Captain representing Canada.
Team sponsored by Henry Equestrian Insurance Brokers Ltd.

A special Nations' Cup prize presentation of ribbons and medals will be held during the Tournament of Champions, Caledon Equestrian Park, from September 23 to 26, 2004.

The Jump Canada booth was set up in the pavilion and JC staff along with volunteers Muffie Guthrie, Terri Belcher and Lee Ann Manual of Galaman ProActive Equine Health Care helped with sales and service. The 2005 Jump Canada calendar, hot off the press and featuring Canada's most popular and well-known show ring riders and horses, was available and sales were brisk, as were sales of the new Jump Canada clothing line supplied by Imaging Express of Oakville, Ontario. Order forms for the clothing, 18 karat gold Italian bracelet charms with the Jump Canada logo, and the 2005 calendar are available by visiting the Jump Canada website www.jumpcanada.ca.

Over $7,000 was raised during this week-long fundraiser. All of the money goes to help support Jump Canada programs for all levels of hunter and jumper riders from grassroots to the international level. Jump Canada would like to give special thanks to Craig Collins and his EMG staff who managed the entries and scoring.
