Important Open Information Sessions for Update on Horse ID in Canada

Ottawa, Ontario --- The Breeds & Industry Division of Equine Canada would like to invite all breed associations, provincial federations and interested industry stakeholders to attend upcoming information sessions at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Alberta, September 8th and 9th (2004).

Two open Information Sessions are scheduled during the Spruce Meadows Masters Tournament & Equifair to provide updated information on the proposed national program for identification of horses in Canada based on a Universal Equine Life Number (UELN) system. The sessions will report on the work and discussions of the Equine Canada Equine Identification Working Group and provide an overview of national horse Idaho programs in the US and other countries. Each session will include a presentation on the topic and an opportunity for questions from attendees. Representatives from Equine Canada and members of the Idaho Working Group will be in attendance to address industry questions on the project.

The Equine Canada Breeds & Industry Information Sessions will take place in the Spruce Meadows Masters – Riding Hall Lounge. The Thursday session will be a repeat presentation of information presented on Wednesday to enable the maximum number of interested parties to attend.

Session 1: Wednesday, September 8th, 2004
9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Session 2: Thursday, September 9th, 2004
9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Updates on the Equine Idaho Working Group’s meetings and public information forums will be posted on the Equine Canada website www.equinecanada.ca
