July in Calgary – Horses, Marching Bands, Parades and Displays
July 11, 2004

Spruce Meadows, Calgary, Alberta --- Eclipse Communications, exclusive to Alberta Equine ...On-Line – Like its sister event, the Calgary Stampede, Spruce Meadows’ North American Tournament offers all of the features of an international festival including music, entertainment, and lots of exhibits.
Wherever you roam on the beautiful grounds of Spruce Meadows you’ll be entertained with live music with groups like “Staggered Pint” and numerous marching bands. Between the major classes in the International Ring there’s a terrific parade presenting all of the international riders, several bands, a six horse hitch drawing a fire wagon bearing the traditional Dalmation dog, a roman chariot and more.
One of the exhibits at the North American tournament is the RCMP booth. Cpl. Dan Magotiaux of the K Division out of Edmonton and his colleagues are present to promote the image of the RCMP and provide a recruitment opportunity. “Visitors from around the world have dropped in during the last several days and they have such a positive reaction to the RCMP as the international icon for Canada,” he said. “We’d like to be here for every event.”
In the Market Place pavilion and throughout the plaza you can see and buy almost anything – from high fashion to fine art and much more. If your feet and legs get tired you can even have your feet analyzed and pick up a pair of custom made orthotics! And the food! Whatever your culinary preferences or desire for ethnic fare you’ll find it somewhere on the grounds.
Summer in Calgary - it’s all about the horses!
