Eric Lamaze Named CAVALOR 'Athlete of the Month' for March

April 14, 2008

Ottawa, ON --- Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, ON, was named the CAVALOR ‘Athlete of the Month’ for March.

With the return of his top horse Hickstead, a 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion owned by Torrey Pines and Ashland Stables Inc., Lamaze contributed two clean rounds to secure Canada’s second place finish in the $75,000 FEI Nations’ Cup, Presented by CN, during the CN Open CSIO5* held in Wellington, FL, on March 7, 2008. Two days later, Lamaze and Hickstead finished second following a seven horse jump-off in the $150,000 CN US Open Jumping Championship.

Proving his consistency throughout the CN Winter Equestrian Festival, Lamaze also finished second overall in the $200,000 FTI Rider Challenge rankings. Riders accumulated points in designated WEF Challenge Cup and Grand Prix events towards the $200,000 FTI Rider Challenge and, after 12 weeks of competition, Lamaze was awarded the second-place bonus money of $50,000.

“It was a great month,” said Lamaze. “It all started with a close second place finish to the Americans in the Nations’ Cup. March also marked the return of Hickstead to the show jumping ring at the international level. Being named the CAVALOR ‘Athlete of the Month’ adds an excellent finish to what was already a great month.”

As the CAVALOR 'Athlete of the Month' for August, Lamaze receives a gift certificate from the title sponsor CAVALOR.
