Agriculture fun at Stampede Park

Calgary, AB --- Stampede Park will be filled with agriculture entertainment from Friday, April 11 to Sunday, April 13. Whether it’s a farmers’ market, weekend vacation ideas, acreage living or learning about where food comes from, Stampede Park has something for everyone.

Aggie Days, sponsored by EnCana, brings the farm to the city. Aggie Days provides an opportunity for thousands of children and their families to learn more about Alberta’s agriculture industry and its impact on our daily lives. Learn from interactive agriculture displays and watch performances including cow milking, sheep shearing and wagon rides. Aggie Days will also feature the Fuel for Gold program where Olympic athletes will talk about the connection between agriculture, food and performance.

The Acreage Lifestyle Show caters to the acreage owner, hobby farmers and the rural lifestyle and will feature on-site building demos and an education theatre. Unique vacation destinations right here in Alberta will be presented at Rural Routes. The Alberta Fare Café will offer a customized menu created by Calgary Stampede chefs who will use Grown right. Here. local products. Exceptional farm fresh food products will also be available at the market, new to this year’s event.

The Stampede Corral will feature rodeo events, blacksmiths and stock dog demonstrations as well as a featured horse training demonstration by GaWani Pony Boy. Special entertainment for the kids includes a meet and greet with Diego, Dan the Balloon Man, Harry the Horse and Sean Watson the magician. The first 1,000 guests on both Saturday and Sunday will also be treated to a traditional Stampede pancake breakfast.

WHEN: Friday, April 11 from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

*Aggie Days is not open to the public on Friday.

The Calgary Stampede’s spring rodeo, Rodeo Royal, has been moved to the fall under a new name, the Canadian Rodeo Tour Championship. This year’s rodeo will take place October 3 to 5, 2008.
