World of the Media! HITS Ocala to Feature Popular Broadcast Media Outlets During the World of the Horse

March 6, 2008

Ocala, FL --- HITS is pleased to announce that Thunder Country Radio WTRS 102.3 and the "Ocala Horse Show" television crew will each be on-site this weekend, making HITS Ocala the media capital of Marion County.

On Sunday, March 9 HITS Ocala's first-ever World of the Horse event will take place at HITS Post Time Farm and HITS' Official Radio Station, Thunder Country WTRS 102.3, will be on-site doing a live broadcast. The World of the Horse event will feature numerous breeds of horses in a colorful parade sure to delight horse lovers of all ages. The event is scheduled to start prior to the $50,000 Strongid® C 2X™ Grand Prix, presented by Bel~Lago at approximately 1:30 pm.

Thunder Country WTRS 102.3 recently announced that Natalie N. Green is the winner of its National Anthem Contest that has been running throughout the 2008 HITS Ocala Winter Circuit. Numerous entries were received, and a panel of judges selected Green to sing the Star-Spangled Banner right before the $100,000 DeLuca Toyota Tundra Grand Prix, presented by Great American Insurance Group on Sunday, March 16. Green is just 18 and her ambition is to become a professional singer and entertain audiences around the world. She is currently a freshman at Sante Fe Community College in Gainesville, Florida.

"We at WTRS are delighted to have Natalie as a representative for our station," said Renee Claire, WTRS Media Marketing Consultant. "She is impressively unspoiled and natural."

"My dad told me that he heard about the contest and I knew that HITS would give me great exposure," said Green. "We went into the studio and recorded a CD and, thankfully, I won. It is going to be so much fun!"

Don't worry about Green getting stage fright; she once performed in front of a sold-out crowd at Turner Field before an Atlanta Braves game. This weekend, she is traveling to New York City where she has a few auditions and hopes to catch some Broadway musicals with her parents.

"We are a close family," said Green, who also has a younger brother. "They are my backbone and support my music career."

Lights, Camera, Action! "Ocala Horse Show" television crew will film last two weekends at Post Time Farm

The television cameras will also be rolling this weekend when the "Ocala Horse Show" television film crew comes to HITS Ocala. The show will highlight HITS Ocala and its exhibitors. The World of the Horse event and the $50,000 Strongid® C 2X™ Grand Prix, presented by Bel~Lago will be featured this weekend, and the crew will be back again next week to film the $100,000 DeLuca Toyota Tundra Grand Prix, presented by Great American Insurance Group on Sunday, March 16.

The "Ocala Horse Show" program is a newcomer to family-friendly TV broadcasting and can be seen each week on Cox Cable Channel 21 Friday mornings at 10 am in Ocala and Gainesville; FOX51 Friday late-night at 2 am in Ocala and everywhere they are carried in the many counties of north central Florida; and Brighthouse Cable in Citrus County, Channel 16 on Thursday nights on prime time at 8:30 pm with reruns on Saturday mornings at 10:00 am. The first episode featured up-and-coming Olympian Jonathan Holling from Willow Run Farm, Orthopedic Veterinarian Dr. Alex Rey with Paramount Sports Medicine and Olympic Gold Medalist Karen O’Connor and her wonderful pony Teddy, the only pony in the world to be a gold medalist at their level of competition.

Producer of the “Ocala Horse Show”, and self-proclaimed “WIZ”, Chris Wilson is more than excited about this opportunity. “We are thrilled to expose the fine exhibitors, sponsors and employees of HITS to our viewing audience,” said Wilson. “Our show is dedicated to the love of horses and we respect the great work that HITS does for the equestrian community here in Ocala and, around the country.”
