Tracy Fenney and Grace capture the $50,000 Purina Mills Grand Prix at HITS Ocala

Ocala, FL --- For Texas' Tracy Fenney, the joke about every Grand Prix at HITS Ocala being won by someone named Tracy isn't getting old.

Fenney won her fourth Grand Prix class during the 2008 HITS Ocala Winter Circuit when her mount Grace had the lone double-clear round on builder Jack Robson's route to win $15,000 in prize money for Hidden Lakes Farm during the $50,000 Purina Mills Grand Prix at HITS Ocala.

Another Tracy, Maryland's Tracy Magness, has won two Grand Prix classes this year at HITS Ocala, making it six Grand Prix wins combined between the two of them. This time around, Magness was 10th in Sunday's featured class aboard Tarco Van Ter Moude.

"Being a Tracy is a good thing, I guess," said Fenney. "Grace jumped really well in the jump-off. Her first round was a little shaky but she really pulled through when it counted."

Fenney outlasted 35 pairs in the first round and five pairs in the jump-off, including David Beisel and Irish Hunt who were first to show in the round. Beisel and his mount had eight faults and finished the day in fifth place.

Second in the jump-off order were Jennifer Gray and her mount Roxette Delores. They also had two rails hit the floor, but their time of 41.189 would be enough for fourth place. Fenny and Grace were next to show and they went clean, setting the Great American Time to Beat at 42.561.

Alex Grayton and his mount Gran Duca were fourth to challenge Robson's route. Their time of 41.307 would have earned them the lead; however, four faults pushed them to finish in second place. Sitting in the enviable last-to-go spot were Michael Grinyer and his mount Alcatraz. The duo's four-fault score landed them in third place.

With the victory, Fenney earned some valuable points for the USGPL standings. This means that she increased her chances of being on the list of the 30 riders who will be invited to participate in the $100,000 USGPL Invitational Grand Prix at HITS Culpeper in late September. The top 30 riders in the Marshall & Sterling League National Standings (based on money won by the horse/rider combination) will qualify to participate in the Invitational. In addition, one Wild Card slot will be allotted. The rider may elect to ride any horse of his or her choice, but may ride only one horse in the Invitational.

Also excelling at HITS Ocala last week was Olivia Dorey, who secured the Central Equine Junior Medal. Due to the number of entries, the Adequan Hunter Championship division was split, creating an opportunity for both Lauren Schweppe aboard Rondiamo and Jeff Ayers aboard Worthington to be named champions. Sunday at HITS Ocala also featured the Talking Phone Book's Kids Day. Children were honored at the horse show and enjoyed lots of activities, including a bounce house, performances by clowns and a musician, face painting, arts and crafts, science discovery centers, trick horses and a special exhibition by the Williston Jr. Drill Team, who performed prior to the $50,000 Purina Grand Prix.

Show jumping at HITS Ocala resumes on Tuesday, March 3 and will feature the $25,000 Ariat Grand Prix on Thursday, March 6 and the $50,000 Strongid® C 2X™ Grand Prix, presented by Bel~Lago on Sunday, March 9. The VIP Grand Prix luncheon for next Sunday will be catered by Ocala's own Felix's.
