Kentucky Summer Horse Shows Host Stellar Lineup of Show Jumping Stars

Lexington, KY --- With the Kentucky Summer Horse Shows just a week away, some of the nation’s very best hunters and jumpers are preparing to compete at the Kentucky Horse Park’s exciting two week show series. The Kentucky Summer Horse Show will be held from August 1-5, with the Kentucky Summer Classic following the week of August 8-12.
Renowned international athletes such as Margie Engle, Joe Fargis, Debbie Stephens, Kim Prince and Chris Kappler are scheduled to attend, in addition to other top riders who compete nationwide. Some of these show jumpers include Donald and Cara Cheska, Tony Font, Cayce Harrison, Niall Grimes, Evan Coluccio, Pato Muente, Derek Braun, Bob Kraut, Shane Sweetnam, and crowd favorite Aaron Vale.
Show jumping super stars will attend the event in hopes of taking home top honors in the Hagyard Challenge Series, a series of seven major show jumping competitions that offers $170,000 in prize money. The $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic Grand Prix classes are scheduled for Thursday, August 2, and Thursday, August 9, in the Sheila C. Johnson Arena. Additionally, the $40,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix will be held on Sunday, August 5, and the $40,000 Kentucky Classic Grand Prix, a Member Event of the AGA Grand Prix Series, is scheduled for Sunday, August 12.
The Hagyard Challenge Series, sponsored by Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, is held at the park throughout the summer, with the final event, the $50,000 World Cup qualifying grand prix, scheduled for the Kentucky National Indoor Horse Show on September 28, 2007. This year, the top point leader of the summer-long succession of classes will be awarded the Leading Rider Award of $30,000. The Leading Rider Award is graciously supported by Dean, Dorton, & Ford, Fifth Third Bank, Fort Dodge, Hagyard Pharmacy, Griffin Gate Marriott Resort & Spa and Turf Town Properties.
In the hunter arenas, some of the best professional riders will be participating in the Green Conformation and Regular Conformation Hunters, as well as the Green and Regular Working Hunters. The line up for this summer’s competition includes Nicole Simpson, Abby Blankenship, Ken Smith, Sandy Ferrell, Avery Dimmig, Tim Goguen, Kelly Farmer, Penny Lombardo, Rick Fancher, and Havens Schatt, to name a few.
This summer, come watch the nation’s best jump at the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park, home to the United States Equestrian Federation and the future site of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

Admission is free to the public. The Kentucky Horse Park charges a $3.00 parking fee.
Parking:
The Kentucky Horse Park charges a $3.00 daily parking fee. Horse Show Exhibitors may
purchase a weekly parking pass at the main Horse Park entrance for $5.00.
VIP Table Seating:
Front row reserved tables of eight will be available each week in the Mesker Pavilion at the Johnson Ring at a price of $500 per week and will entitle you and your guests to VIP seating for the $40,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix on Saturday evening, August 4th and the $40,000 Kentucky Classic Grand Prix on Saturday evening, August 11th. Wristbands and VIP parking passes will be available in the Show Office.
