Canada's Coast-to-Coast Show Jumping Series Shifts
July 24, 2007
Bromont, Quebec --- Canada's only coast-to-coast national show jumping series will kick-off its eastern conference in Bromont this Saturday during the second week of the Bromont International show jumping tournament. Participants will be vying for a spot in the Kubota Cup National Final at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto in November. The Kubota Cup National Final is the only show jumping competition in Canada that guarantees participation from both eastern and western Canada.
Bromont's hometown favourite Mario Deslauriers, along with Amy Millar, of Perth, Ontario and Hyde Moffatt, of Brantford, Ontario were the big winners last week, during week one of the Bromont International. That will make them the early favourites to get a jump-start on qualification for the Kubota Cup National Final.
After the eastern conference opens in Bromont, it quickly moves to Thornbury, Ontario for a Kubota Cup on August 19, before winding up in Halifax in October. The western conference is nearing completion. The third and final western conference Kubota Cup, in Richmond B.C. on August 12, will determine the best in the west. Gary Brewster, of West Vancouver, on Hurricane, is the current leader in a tight race.
A minimum of 5 rider/horse combinations, each, from east and west will travel to the Kubota Cup National Final. In addition, each winner of a Kubota Cup, if not already in the top 5 in the standings, automatically qualifies. One wild card entry may also be invited.
