François Ferland Honoured as Jump Canada’s 2005 ‘Official of the Year’

Ottawa, Ontario --- François Ferland of St-Jean-Chrysostome, QC, was honoured as the recipient of Jump Canada’s 2005 ‘Official of the Year’ Award, on February 11 during the Equine Canada Annual Convention in Saint John, NB.
A highly respected Jumper Judge the world over, Ferland holds his senior judging status with Equine Canada as well as the prestigious ‘O’ status with the International Equestrian Federation (FEI). In a judging career that spans 30 years, Ferland has proudly represented Canada by officiating at every major international event, including the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. In addition, he has presided over World Equestrian Games, Pan American Games, World Cup Finals, and countless Nations’ Cup and Grand Prix competitions.
An advocate for human rights, Ferland is dedicated to making the world a better place. In equestrian sport, his generous nature, for which he is well-known, extends to acting as a mentor for up-and-coming judges. He is also an active clinician, a wide promoter of show jumping sport both in Canada and abroad, and has given many volunteer hours as a representative to the FEI. A true gentleman, all who have had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Ferland are impressed by his knowledge, integrity and charming personality.
It is with great pleasure that Jump Canada recognizes François Ferland as its 2005 ‘Official of the Year’ in recognition of his accomplishments and his dedication to the highest possible standards of show jumping.
In its inaugural year, the 2004 ‘Official of the Year’ Award was presented to Tom Michiel of Calgary, AB, who is Past Chair of the Jump Canada Officials Committee and also represented Canada as an FEI Jumping Judge.
