HorsePower: Road to the Maclay Debuts to Rave Reviews at Premiere Party
February 2, 2006
Wellington, FL --- Over 100 top junior equestrians, their friends and families joined together last night to celebrate the premiere of HorsePower: The Road to the Maclay, hosted by the Wellington Golf and Country Club. The show was created and brought to viewers nationwide by Animal Planet. The show will air every Wednesday at 8pm and 11pm EST for the next six weeks.
Guests began by mingling at the bar, catching up with their friends, and fellow competitors that come from all parts of the country. “This was such a great opportunity to get everyone together during the winter season. All these kids become your family, and their families become your close friends. It was so exciting to see the first episode with everyone since we all know first hand the work and commitment that is needed to get
to this level,” said Frank Madden, owner of Beacon Hill Show Stables and one of the trainers featured in the show.
Several of the cast members in the show made guest appearances. Brianne Goutal, winner of the 2005 ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship National Championship, was present with her sister Clementine. Chelsea Moss and Maria Schaub also enjoyed the festivities, while trainers Frank and Stacia Madden of Beacon Show Stables anxiously awaited the reaction of the peers and colleagues to the much anticipated opening event.
Prior to the show, guests dined on a scrumptious dinner of chicken marsala, linguine and salad, followed by an assortment of delicious desserts catered by the Wellington Golf and Country Club. Three large screened televisions were placed in each corner of the beautifully decorated function room to air the show.
When the show began, loud cheers and clapping were heard throughout the club. “It was really cool to see my friends on T.V. and be sitting with them at the same time,” stated one of the attendees. “I was looking forward to this all day. We all share an addiction to horses and to see what we love so much on T.V. is exciting. Maybe some ‘normal’ people will understand what goes on behind the scenes of the horseshow world,” she added with a laugh.
HorsePower: The Road to the Maclay accompanies you into the world of the best junior riders in the country. Audiences are invited to experience the top teenage riders throughout their trials and tribulations involved in the high powered horse show circuit. Viewers will share in both the moments of frustration and moments of joy with the riders, trainers, friends, families, and the horses that they love so much.
“We are really excited to bring HorsePower to television,” said Vicki Lowell, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Animal Planet. “The horse show community has been really supportive in our efforts to bring their lifestyle and experience to television. So many horse lovers can catch a glimpse of the dedication, commitment and work that is involved at this level of show jumping.
