Canadian Olympic Rider at Equine Trade Fair Saturday

Chilliwack, BC --- International show jumping rider and Canadian Olympian Beth Underhill will be signing autographs Saturday, October 22 at Chilliwack’s Heritage Park. She is just one of the impressive lineup of renowned equine personalities appearing at the Mane Event Equine Education & Trade Fair which runs October 21 – 23.
Underhill's long list of world-class credentials includes competing at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, the 1991 Pan American Games, where she won both Team and Individual Silver Medals, the 1999 Pan Am Games, where she won Team Bronze; and the 1998 World Equestrian Games in Rome, Italy. In 1993 she became the first woman to win the World Cup League, and won again in 1999. Underhill will be at the Avenue Machinery booth from 2pm to 3pm to meet her fans who will receive a signed souvenir photo.
Over 175 trade show exhibitors and over 80 hours of clinics and demonstrations are scheduled for the Mane Event. There is something of interest to spectators of all ages and interests throughout the three days. The spectacular lineup of non-stop entertainment at Saturday night’s “Equine Experience” is an event not to be missed. A variety of drill teams, Ziggy, the Trick Horse and a thrilling demonstration of “mounted shooting” are just some of the attractions planned for the evening which will be kicked off by Chilliwack Mayor Clint Hames at 7:30pm.
One of the most talked about events, for the first time at this year’s Mane Event, is the Trainer’s Challenge, featuring three trainers, three judges – and one winner! Top Canadian trainers Chris Irwin, Doug Mills and Jay O’Jay will showcase their skills for the judges over 2½ days, leading to a final showdown and showcase Sunday afternoon. Spectators have the opportunity to watch and learn from some of the best horse trainers in Canada.
Parents can take in the clinics and shop at their leisure while their children are entertained at “Varmintville.” The Abbotsford 4-H Club will help keep the young ones amused with crafts, movies, face painting and other fun activities.
Admission includes parking, all clinics and presentations and Saturday’s “Equine Experience.” Weekend passes are $25.00 adults & $15.00 for youths.
