Ottawa, Ontario --- With the final event in the Canadian World Cup League fast approaching, Chris Pratt of Belltown, Ontario, has overtaken the lead.

Riding Lothlorien Farm’s 10-year-old Westphalian gelding, Rivendell (Piano II), Pratt overtook top spot in the standings after winning the $100,000 John Deere World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix at the Tournament of Champions held on September 25 in Palgrave, Ontario.

“This is one of the top shows in Eastern Canada and it wraps up the entire outdoor season in Canada. Our win in the final outdoor Grand Prix on the circuit, with all the top horses and riders present, is definitely a good measure of how we have improved,” said Pratt. “Riding at the Spruce Meadows “Masters” was an incredible learning experience for both of us. Also, I feel that we have a superior program in place and tribute needs to be paid to Rivendell’s owner, Susan Grange, and his caretaker, Jennifer Kerr.”

The win at the Tournament of Champions marked Pratt’s second consecutive victory in the Canadian World Cup League standings as he also won the $50,000 Collingwood Festival World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix at Collingwood, Ontario. With a current total of 59 points, Pratt has now moved ahead of former leader, Jill Henselwood of Oxford Mills, Ontario, who now sits second in the standings with a total of 54 points. There is a two-way tie for third place with 45 points between eight-time Olympian Ian Millar of Perth, Ontario, and Margie Gayford of Sharon, Ontario.

Millar, riding his Athens Olympic mount Promise Me, won the $100,000 Alliance Homes World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix in Palgrave, Ontario, in early August while Gayford enjoyed a third place finish at the Tournament of Champions riding Stuntman, a nine-year-old Hanoverian gelding owned by Shawn Littler and Wingberry Farms.

Following the final qualifying event to be held on Wednesday, November 9, at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, Ontario, the top two Canadians in the World Cup standings will be invited to represent their country at the 2006 World Cup Final to be held April 26-30 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
