Forest Ride for Horse Health

August 29, 2005

Saskatchewan --- On September 2 and 3, horse and rider teams from across the Prairies will ride through one of Saskatchewan's most beautiful forests — and raise some funds for horse health research at the same time. The annual Nisbet Provincial Forest Ride, which is sanctioned by the Saskatchewan Long Riders, includes a 25-mile limited distance ride as well as two endurance rides of 50 miles and 100 miles in length. Both endurance rides are also sanctioned by the American Endurance Ride Conference (AERC). All three rides take teams through wooded areas and sand hills along the picturesque South Saskatchewan River, about 80 kilometres north of Saskatoon, Sask. Proceeds from the Nisbet Provincial Forest Ride will be donated to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine's Equine Health Research Fund. For more information, please contact Dr. Trisha Dowling (306-966-7359 or trisha.dowling@usask.ca).
