National Sport Series and Charity Fundraiser featured at Richmond Equestrian Venue
August 2, 2005
Richmond, British Columbia --- Twin Oaks Farm, one of Western Canada’s top equestrian venues, is celebrating its 5th year of attracting top show jumping competitors to the Vancouver area and supporting local charities.
The Twin Oaks Derby, with competition August 11 – 14, has become a “must do” event for many of Canada’s top riders. This year Twin Oaks is hosting the Western Canada Championship Final of the Kubota Cup Canadian Show Jumping Series, which has become one of the premier events coast to coast in its inaugural year. A Western Champion will be crowned August 14 following the Kubota Cup Twin Oaks Derby.
Once again this year Twin Oaks Farm and BC Children’s Hospital are partnering to raise funds for Mental Health programs at BC Children’s Hospital. More than 140,000 children and adolescents in B.C. are affected by brain disorders which are diagnosed as mental illness. Proceeds from the Black Tie and Jeans event on August 12, 2005 will support critical funding for specialized mental health services for children and youth in B.C. With each ticket purchase patrons enjoy a gourmet dinner, have the opportunity to bid on equestrian teams, and have a front row seat to watch the show jumping competition. Last year the event raised $75,000.
There are many activities for the whole family to enjoy at Twin Oaks, including food concessions, a Marketplace and pony rides. On Sunday, August 14, come and meet the “gentle giants” of the Canadian Clyde Ride, who will be performing their spectacular routine. That same day Canadian Olympian Leslie Reid of Langley will give a Dressage demonstration.
Parking is by donation with the proceeds to be distributed to charitable organizations by the Rotary Club. Admission is free. Access to Twin Oaks Farm is via No. 3 Rd. in Richmond. Watch for the signs. For more information go to www.twinoaks.ca
