Spruce Meadows, Calgary, Alberta --- American Schuyler Riley and Opus Sept were forced into a jump-off again in the 2005 version of the Chrysler Classic when both she and Rodrigo Pessoa (BRA) aboard Richmont Park went clear over the demanding derby course. In 2004 Rich Fellers (USA) forced a jump-off as well.

When asked if she felt comfortable after posting the first clear, she remarked "are you kidding me! With riders like Beezie and Rodrigo behind me?" Sure enough, Pessoa came in third from last in the order and posted a second clear.

Riley returned first back in the jump-off and had one rail down leaving the door open for Pessoa. But the tables turned and after two down, Pessoa knew he could not win and retired.

This placing was good enough to help her again capture the overall Spruce Meadows North American Championship title. Henselwood and Ian Millar were tied for the lead but the higher result in the Chrysler Classic was the determining factor to give her the win.

Germany's Markus Beerbaum won the Sun Life Financial Reach for the Sun event earlier in the day. The 1.50m event came down to a jump-off where there were six double-clear in total. Beerbaum and Constantin 24 finished in a time of 35.04. Nick Skelton (GBR) and Pandur 292 finished second in a time of 36.18, followed closely by fellow Brit, Mark Armstrong aboard Thesaura in a time of 36.43.

Top Canadian in the Sun Life Financial Reach for the Sun was Kim Farlinger aboard Del Destino. A promising young rider, Farlinger also won both the gold and silver medals in the Molson 'Canadian' Three Star Award.

Today's competition completes a highly successful Summer Tour at Spruce Meadows that saw more than 225,000 people enjoy the four great weeks of international show jumping. The final outdoor event at Spruce Meadows is the Spruce Meadows "Masters" CSIO 5* (September 7 - 11).
